60 F and a balmy wind. Red leaf buds on the box elder tree--visible from the window over the kitchen sink--a welcome view.
Soft grey fuzzies on the goat willow tree
More of the bursting buds on the box elder.
Iris have leapt from their mid-winter crouch in the upper perennial bed.
Spring--so longed for--and so brief a season before the humid heat of summer.
Beautiful photos! I can't wait for spring to come. It is going to take a bit longer to get to central IL. Just curious how far of a distance is your are from Bowling Green? I am not expecting you to disclose where you live I am just curious because the only 3 areas in Kentucky I really am familiar with are Paducah, Louisville, and Bowling Green. My husband, daughter, and I were there last year and we will be heading to Bowling Green twice this summer.
ReplyDeleteSoftie; We live north-east of Bowling Green--its about an hour's drive from here. Ny husband used to own a semi and drove all over the country, so I refer all questions re distance and location to him! Since we retired I've only driven locally on errands--which is fine with me!
DeleteSo happy that you are seeing spring starting to happen there at your homestead. I know that makes you feel good too. It is a beautiful morning here, gentle breezes, big blue sky, 69 degrees but feels like it is 75. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend ~ FlowerLady
Lorraine; I wish that the gentle spring season continued longer--soon we be hot and humid--a bit like Florida.
DeleteLovely blue skies, it must be a relief to know the worst weather is behind you.
ReplyDeleteKath; Spring has been slow to arrive this year. We'll still have chilly days, but the worst of the cold should be on its way out.
DeleteBah! Very cold here still, though the ice has melted on the pond now (to the relief of the frogspawn, I dare say!) Hailstones today, and not a jot of balmy air on the horizon!!! I'm glad you have your spring on the doorstep though, and hope you can get your guests sitting outside in the next week, to keep you company and chat whilst you garden!
ReplyDeleteJennie; I did bundle up this morning and take my coffee out to the east facing porch--so that could enjoy the song of the cardinal. Only a few days ago we had snow flurries!
DeleteBeautiful ....Spring has definately sprung. xx
ReplyDeleteAngie; I wish my camera could capture all the beauty. Once the weather begins to warm, the trees and plants change every day.
DeleteLovely spring weather just what we all need, some happy sunshine to cheer us up.xx
ReplyDeleteJill; The last few weeks of mostly cold and gloomy weather have surely not been cheerful. The sunshine and blue skies are welcome!
DeleteThe forecast is for up to 3 inches of snow today in the Cincinnati area. I envy you your balmy 60s.

Lillian; Our balmy weather disappeared overnight--however I hope it won't SNOW!
DeleteHooray! Something to cheer us up at last - thank you!
ReplyDeleteEm; Today [Sunday] is dank and gloomy--again--but the several days of warmer weather brought a greener color to the fields and the birds seem convinced it is nesting time!
