So glad you did what you could for him. My son had a feral cat that would sleep in the wood shed. They gave it warm bedding and food but it too eventually disappeared.ChrisJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11550420299395301062noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7314065896417867122.post-486039033192462252010-06-10T04:26:05.073-04:002010-06-10T04:26:05.073-04:00What a wonderful recount of your time with hopper....What a wonderful recount of your time with hopper.A friend we had in England cared for ferals ...trapping any ill or hurt ones ...getting them back to health and taming some ...as much as you can. She was wonderful with them and 'six toes' became almost tame, remaining with her for years. Our Buffy was certainly born in the wild and still 15 years on and now a mainly indoor cat, she is still dislaked by most of the other cats we have...mind you i dont think she likes them much either and has her ares to retreat into.

Thanks for letting us all know about Kiffer ...I pop by there on and off so I was glad to leave a message.Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12177505346903016669noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7314065896417867122.post-29099649968088583662010-06-09T22:15:19.999-04:002010-06-09T22:15:19.999-04:00Rowan: Old Hopper may have crept into a neighbor&#...Rowan: Old Hopper may have crept into a neighbor's barn to sleep, or someone's out-building. So much that we didn't know about him.

MTVA: We animal lovers anguish over the abandoned or neglected ones, even as we despair over the health hazard they can present to our own cats if ours are allowed outside.
Our spoiled cats have adjusted very well to the Kentucky house--the bird-watching opportunities are up close and very absorbing.
I'm glad to hear you enjoy my blog!

Mac 'n' Janet: Those of us who look after animals have a common bond!Morning's Minionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01912356455981434029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7314065896417867122.post-88199584144823508782010-06-09T10:22:56.447-04:002010-06-09T10:22:56.447-04:00Sad story, we've fed many a feral cat too, I a...Sad story, we've fed many a feral cat too, I always worry about them.Mac n' Janethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05732924562630675589noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7314065896417867122.post-49623885074578540642010-06-09T04:34:27.094-04:002010-06-09T04:34:27.094-04:00How kind and thoughtful of you to mention Kiffer&#...How kind and thoughtful of you to mention Kiffer's passing. The Ginger Cats blog and yours are my top favorites.

There is something about these outside cats and their perilous lives that just tugs at the heart. In addition to my 3 indoor cats, I have some regular visitors to what I call The Kitty Diner out back, and when any one doesn't show up for a while, it gets very worrisome. Like you have said, it's very hard to get near them, and you just have to hope they live well and safely and do what you can for them.
Are your cats all nicely settled into their new home? They must be ecstatic with all the birdwatching opportunities there!MTVAhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13503109991875159708noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7314065896417867122.post-6718092327417600442010-06-09T02:53:59.494-04:002010-06-09T02:53:59.494-04:00What a bittersweet story, at least poor Hopper did...What a bittersweet story, at least poor Hopper didn't go hungry in the long cold winters.
